Project-Based Learning | Story Elements
This is a creative way to display a student's comprehension and writing skills!
We read Get the Egg!, then discussed the story elements of the story.
I would write my question on an "egg", then we would read the sentence together. The student would respond, assisting him with speaking in a complete sentence if needed. I wrote his sentence, and he copied it on the other side of the egg.
We worked side-by-side, multi-tasking and maximizing our session as much as possible. Instead of feeling like writing is a tedious chore, we were artists collaborating together to finish an art project.
It was painless writing practice that was fun for both me and my student!

Project-Based Learning | Oceans

"How do we preserve ocean animals' habitats?" I began the unit with this problem, then we learned about the different ocean levels, marine life, and the effect of pollution on the environment. Our solution was to start a school-wide recycling program for plastic; students even started recycling in their homes! We also explored ways we can reduce and reuse plastics.

Book | How to Play Bass

After my performance at the New Orleans Community Print Shop Halloween Cover Show 2013, I was asked to help create a manual for how to play the bass guitar.
I collaborated with other writers. I wrote some, but was more into the editing and book design/layout of the project.
This book will be circulated in New Orleans as the how-to manual for Girls' Rock Camp and Not Enough Fest.
Video | Tribute to MLK Jr.

All I did was shoot and edit the video, honestly. We did a few takes. Then we organized a "video release party" and had some popcorn and drinks, invited friends and school administrators to the cafeteria. The kids felt like superstars...because they are!
BTW I did all the video work in one day. :)
