Working together as artists

During ESY (summer school for special education), we work on whatever skills the student needs to maintain, per their IEP. With only three weeks, and since I only had one student in my class, I got the green light to teach however I wanted! Of course I integrated arts with reading, writing, math, and science to maximize the three short weeks we had.

We worked together like two artists. Instead of me leading and lecturing, I got to really implement the educational theories/approaches of Vygotsky (social learning), Brunerm Piaget (constructivism) and others.

I tried to find footage of our final product, but it's lost to time...if I find it somehow I'll post it.

This is a short clip of the artist rules we created to establish some boundaries during our short time together.

PS--In terms of art, I do agree some rules are meant to be broken! These were simply established for the purpose of summer school. I am a strong believer in improvising, but it is was necessary to set parameters for our project due to time constraints.
