Rubber Band Journals

Teachers got a beginning-the-year gift bag yesterday, and one of the goodies in there was a box of rubber bands. It made me question: What can I do to use up all these rubber bands?

One idea I found was to make rubber band journals. Instead of a simple staple binding, it's made of (multiple?) rubber bands.

And also, I thought of the kids each making their own abacus, like above, using cereal boxes, or some similar object, and instead of string we can use rubber bands, and instead of fruit loops we can use beads...

I just realized that the box has an ASSORTMENT of sizes and widths, so we can actually make a decent rubber band guitar out of these!

I hate seeing things go to waste, I like to try to use everything as much as possible. I am excited to see embark on a series of rubber band projects, and post student work to show their creativity~
